Union News Update
Union News Update (correction version) Retention system (Length of Service): In order for Evaluations scores to count they must be considered "Effective Evaluations" toward your retention. The lowest effective evaluation scored is 80 points, an average score is 100 points and outstanding is a score of 120 points. Each employee earns ½ point per month towards Length of Service for retention, with a maximum of 6 points per year. The Yearly retention points for 20 years of Service = 200, the maximum Yearly retention points = 240 up to Retirement.
To calculate your score, you must add your current year Evaluation score to the number of points you have earned for yearly retention. Use the Table below to calculate your Yearly Retention Totals
*Calculation = Total Years of Service x 6 = Retention Points
The final retention score depends on the Evaluation you received for the Current Year, for instance if you have 20 years and 6 months of Service as of April 2008, and your Evaluation for 2007 was average your retention calculations are as follows:
(Yearly Retention Score) 120 + 100 (Evaluation Points) = 220 as a retention score for Length of Service.
If someone with the same years and months of service has a lower evaluation 120 + 80 (Evaluation Points) = 200, then the score of 220 would be considered the higher score. This is the way the DHR will calculate Length of Service for personnel considered for RIF action along with your job classification. |
