1. According to COO Greg Giornelli, the shortfall of the projected budget does not mean a budget deficit. Other information and calculations must be received to determine the full amount. At this time the City of Atlanta would consider non-personnel reduction, and Mayor Franklin would indicate what type if any.
2. The City Council has ask for a independent review of the pension fund. There are no changes yet with the pension, however; some future reduction are being considered, and PACE will inform members of any such adjustments to the pension fund.
3. Furloughs are currently enforced to the end of the current Mayor's terms. The new stimulus package has been signed into law and the release of these funds will begin in early March according to White House sources. PACE is currently seeking information and hope that the stimulus funds will prevent future layoffs. PACE will address question to the Legislative Branch, and the COO to answer more questions next week.
