On February 4, 2010 PACE met with Pension Board Committee member Alfred Berry to gain a better understanding of pension rumors and facts such as:

1. Cause of Actions is based on 2008-09 negative CPI

2. 45-75 Total Retirees will be impacted by the negative CPI (recent 2008-09 retirees)

3. Negative CPI will only affect COLA and NOT base salaries

4. COA Code only allows for 3% COLA increases with anything over going into a reserve

PACE will have a seat on the Mayor’s Pension Task Force that was announced on February 3, 2010. Jon Calloway will be the representative on that Committee for PACE. PACE Has Sight's on Kasim Reed

During the runoff election campaign between the two Mayoral Candidates Kasim Reed and Mary Norwood, PACE President Gina Pagnotta remained focused on which candidate would best support the PACE Union Members objectives, as she Talked personally with Kasim Reed last week. PACE now has it's sights on Kasim Reed for his ideas and agenda for the employees of the City of Atlanta as well as the citizens of Atlanta, the answers he gave to questions and his direction for Atlanta seems genuine Ms Pagnotta stated, and his can do attitude is to be desired.

PACE is asking all members to get to the Polls on 1 December and Vote. Your voice will be heard by going to the Polls to help elect the City of Atlanta Next Mayor. PACE would also like to thank all the individuals who works so hard to help PACE Members during this important election period and ask that all members and citizens please bring the correct form of Identification to the Polls when voting.

PACE Undecided on Mayoral Candidate RunOff

PACE would like to thank all the Union Members who worked diligently throughout the campaign trails of the candidates we endorsed. We also want to thank the members who went to the polls and cast your votes for the next Mayor of our City. Although the candidate that we endorsed for Mayor did not succeed, we still remain confident in our endorsement that the candidate we chose was the best person for the needs of our membership and employees. At this time PACE has not yet considered endorsing the remaining candidates (Mary Norwood/Kaseem Reed) in the runoff for Mayor. However, we are requesting for all Union Members to assist us in making that decision by emailing your suggestion of what you would prefer PACE to do, whether to endorse a candidate or to remain neutral. Your suggestion should be emailed to gpagnotta@paceatlanta.org no later than Monday, November 23, 2009.

In either decision, PACE encourages all members that can vote, to make sure you exercise your rights in going to the polls on December 1, 2009 and mark your vote in the upcoming elections runoff. Please stay tune to the PACE Website for more information.
